Walk Every Day

Instead of getting overwhelmed as to how you should get your exercise to help lose weight to alleviate your back pain, focus on something simple. Walking is arguably the simplest way to burn calories, and is ideal whether you visit a gym to walk on the treadmill, buy a treadmill for your home, or walk outside. You don't need to walk particularly briskly, although the quicker the pace you maintain, the faster you'll burn calories. Just as developing an exercise routine can be overwhelming, so too can adjusting your diet to try to lose weight and help your back pain. Keep things simple by just avoiding any foods that contain refined sugars. Doing so will not only dramatically reduce your caloric intake, but will also help you maintain a steadier blood sugar level; when the blood sugar isn't rising and falling rapidly, you won't crave sugar as much. Enjoy fresh fruit for dessert instead of cake, pie, cookies, ice cream, and other sweets.

Drink Nothing But Water

A simple way to dramatically reduce your intake of calories is to drink nothing but water. Virtually every other beverage, with the exception of those that are artificially sweetened, contain calories — and many are high in sugar, too. Focusing on water at mealtimes and between meals will help your effort to lose weight and alleviate your back pain. Additionally, hydrating your body is also beneficial as a way to improve the health of the joints throughout your body, including those in your back. This can be an added way to reduce some of your back pain.
